INR 500 for Indian nationals for a single-entry visa for applications during the current 2026-27 fee period. VFS / agency service charges are additional.

Japan Visa Processing Information

Processing Time

Generally minimum 10 working days

Processing Note

Processing starts after the application is received for examination. Actual processing may take longer depending on the individual case and application volume. Visa examination cannot be expedited based on the applicant's travel schedule.

Japan eVisa Travel Requirement

Travellers holding a Japan eVISA must display the Visa Issuance Notice on a mobile device while connected to the internet when requested at the airport or departure point. PDF files, screenshots and printed copies are not accepted as the Visa Issuance Notice.

Application & Submission

Japan visa applications in India are facilitated through VFS Global / the applicable accredited application process according to the applicant's place of residence and visa category. The Consulate-General of Japan in Mumbai no longer accepts normal visa applications directly from applicants after 20 April 2026.

The Embassy, Consulate-General or visa processing authority may request additional documents or an interview depending on the applicant's circumstances and examination of the application.
